“All the routes lead to Rome” say an ancient proverb! And actually many routes and different reasons can take you here, in the Eternal City.
Famous all over the world for its long history and for the incomparable archaeological beauties, from the Colosseum to the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, it’s the perfect place for a time travel!
If you love fine arts, just get lost in the alleys of the city centre: in your ride you’ll meet countless churches, statues, historical buildings, fountains… and every corner will tell you a story.
Or visit the amazing museums and temporary exhibitions, all over the city, and don’t forget to take a picture in the most important squares: and Piazza del Popolo, then the Pantheon, Fontana di Trevi and the Ghetto.
If you want to experience authentic life of Roman citizens, plan a little escapade in Campo dei Fiori in the morning to enjoy the market of fresh fruits & vegetables, and taste some typical food.
Rome is also the capital of Christianity, and the Vatican is a real “city in the city”, with the famous St Peter’s Basilica, St Peter’s Square and the Vatican Museums. Other important churches in the city are San Giovanni in Laterano, Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Maria in Trastevere, San Luigi dei Francesi (and so many others!).
Or just sit in a café in Via Veneto and try to imagine and feel the emotion of Dolce Vita, have a tour in the shops of the fashion designers who made Rome the “Capital of Fashion”: Valentino, the Fendi sisters, Laura Biagiotti, Giambattista Valli and Frida Giannini (Gucci), among others.
Last but not least, enjoy some authentic Roman food: have breakfast with “cappuccino and cornetto”, then a break with “pizza e mortazza”, enjoy a typical lunch in a “osteria” and end your day with a night tour in Trastevere.
All this is Rome.
